Dr. Matthew Cornish recently returned from Vanuatu in the Pacific Islands where he was providing medical care for the victims of Cyclone Pam.

Dr. Cornish along with nurses Cheryl Wynkoop and Whitney Davidson stayed for 10 days and were responsible for meeting the medical needs of the islands of Nguna and Emao. The two islands hadn’t received any medical care since the cyclone hit, and the team was kept busy treating things like lacerations and pneumonia, along with some chronic illnesses like diabetes and epilepsy.

According to Dr. Cornish, “It was one of those times where I was the right person in the right place in the right time, and happy to be so.”
